Airplay only audio to 3rd generation

So... Apple TV has an awesome screen saver to show slideshow of our family pictures from icloud. I use to be able to have apple music play while looking at pictures. Now, I have to use airplay to listen to music, which then displays my desktop onto the TV. Does anyone know how to only stream audio (apple music) and allow the TV to still display the screen saver?
